Prepping For SHTF: My 3 Biggest Prepping Mistakes! :) What Are Yours?

Along the prepping journey I have had my share of fumbles. Learning from these fumbles allows me to grow. You know what they say ” Mistakes are not bad if you learn something from them” 🙂

Mistake #1: Not repackaging food properly for the long haul.

Getting good deals on any food only serves a purpose if you can get that food to last a long time. Even though I have repackaged a lot of food, I do see some that still needs repackaging. That repackaging will come in the form of ziplock mylar bags with oxygen absorbers or vacuusealed bags or vacuusealed mason jars. If I am going to invest the money to buy it, it has to last. 🙂

Mistake #2: Avoiding the skill I know I need to learn better: Gardening

Having a well stocked garden and the skills to maximize harvest yield can make the difference between life and death in any SHTF situation.

Mistake #3:
Not having a solid local prepper community network.

I am on the fence about this one. Torn between not wanting to reveal to my neighbors what I am doing it and why I am doing it vs knowing full well the chances of survival are greater in a group.

OK, those are my 3 right now. I will be examining these and reconsidering my strategies on all 3 fronts over the next year.

I know I have more, this is just the tip of the iceberg 😉

Please feel free to share what areas in prepping you may have made mistakes in, after looking back and seeing how things went. I would love to hear from you as I know others would too! 🙂
